Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said on Monday it's of his opinion that the team won't make any trades before the Feb. 21 trade deadline, according to Mavs.com's Earl K. Sneed.
Carlisle went on to list forwards Shawn Marion and Vince Carter as players who won't be heading anywhere. He broadened his belief by saying he didn't think the Mavericks would deal anybody at all.
Both Marion and Carter have rejuvenated their careers this season in Dallas.
Carter has been mentioned in some trade talks, including a brief few hours where Dallas was one team reportedly in the Rudy Gay discussions; that preceded the eventual deal sending Gay to Toronto. Afterward, Carter was told by Carlisle that he was staying put. The veteran is averaging 12.7 points and 3.8 rebounds this season, mostly in a reserve role.
Meanwhile, Marion told ESPN Dallas/Fort Worth earlier this month that he would refuse to be traded to a less-than-ideal situation at this point in his career. Like Carter, Marion has enjoyed a strong 2012-13 campaign with averages of 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
